I wouldn't really apologize for this kind of art pal; I've made a few pieces of this demographic that I plan on releasing soon, so you're not alone.

The back story of this is quite appealing, as well as the art itself.
There's no shame in making this art, cause it came out really good; I can tell you gave it some effort.

As for collages, this is a good representation; slight overlapping & various types of [in this case,] cheese is a good tactic to use; colored borders was a nice touch too. :3
